According to the MIT Technology Review, the definition of Super Spreader is: “a generic term for an unusually contagious individual who’s been infected with disease.” Since the ‘President’s’ Covid-19 diagnosis, I’ve been applying this definition to other things the ‘President’ might be spreading.

Thinking about the words Trump has said over the years, words I have heard with my ears, that he’s said on TV, have influenced the words we say and how we interact with each other.

I’ve become aware of a new level of biased-based offensives, hateful slurs, and anti-semetic…

It’s a Privilege to NOT Believe in Science

Here is the Cambridge Dictionary’s definition of privilege:

  1. A social advantage or authority possessed by a particular person or group
  2. A right or advantage that only a small number of people have
  3. An advantage that only one person or group of people has, usually because of their position

I know too many people who don’t believe in science. Not just people I see on Facebook who I’ve never met in person, or people I see being asked on the news why they won’t wear a mask. But people I know like Cecilia.

I’ve been shamed for wearing a mask. Okay, people haven’t called me out, on the street, “Hey you! You’re a loser. You’re afraid!!!” But, when I scroll through my feed on Instagram or Facebook, I see too many posts accusing people who choose to wear masks of doing it because we’re afraid. And, for me, and for my husband, and for others that I speak to and know, we aren’t doing it because we’re afraid, we’re doing it because we see the importance of wearing a mask. …

“Let me get that double D tag on your bra for you,” the woman sitting behind me in the auditorium said.

I was wearing a shirt that was cut deep in the back and the top of my bra strap was visible. She wedged her fingers under my strap and began fiddling with the tag.

“Double D?” I repeated the woman’s words. “They aren’t double D,” I said. I felt as if I had to defend myself, which made me feel uncomfortable and a little irritated. …

6 Steps to Loving Yourself & Losing Weight.

It was Albert Einstein who said that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result.

That was me losing and gaining, losing and gaining, losing and gaining the same 10–30 pounds year after year, ever since high school. You name the diet, I’ve been on it: low-carb-high-fat, low-fat-high-protein, plant-based-two-shakes-a-day, the hcg diet, one-meal-a-day, (yeah-that-one-too) and the I’ve-done-it-all-before diet. I’d start each new diet with the best intentions. And sometimes I even achieved my goal. I’d feel good. Confident. Proud of myself. Trouble was, most of the diets weren’t sustainable. …

Or Maybe Her Priorities (and Yours) Have Shifted.

“I’d love to do that, but I don’t have the time.” This is a lie we tell ourselves according to Steve Chandler in his book 37 Ways to Boost Your Coaching Practice.

As I read this quote, I thought of the coffee date I had arranged with an old friend I hadn’t seen in a while. Somehow, she had drifted out of my life. When we bumped into each other, she seemed genuinely happy to see me and I was happy to see her. That got me thinking, It would be nice…

Merriam Webster defines Apology as an admission of error or an expression of regret. This is not the type of apology I receive all that often. And mainly I don’t receive this type of apology from women. Girlfriends.

This morning I made a list. On it are two A’s, a B, two C’s, and a two D’s. There are more than three J’s, two L’s and two S’s. There’s an M, and even a Y. The Y is for Yvonne. She and I knew each other for a short time in the 90's.

“Justin said you left this at the…

I was in a rut and this is what I did to get my groove back on!

Lethargic, uninspired, flat, restless, and numb are some of the words I use to describe being in a rut. And trust me, I know, because recently, I found myself stuck in a rut.

Things piled up over time. I was frustrated at work. My husband was out of town. We’re active in the sailing community and with racing season over, I was missing my time on the water. I also had a falling out with some girlfriends that had left me reeling. And…
